Context
The site you’re reading. I rebuilt reactionlab.com from an old WordPress theme into a static Astro site so it could be fast, cheap to host, and — appropriately for a design-systems practice — driven by tokens.
Problem
The previous site was a single bio page on a database-backed CMS and a paid droplet. It said little about the work, cost money to run, and wasn’t a great advertisement for the kind of systems thinking I do.
Approach
I moved the content to Markdown with a git-based CMS, so edits are versioned and the whole thing builds to static files. The styling consumes a design-token pipeline — a DTCG token source compiled with Style Dictionary to CSS custom properties — so there are no stray values in the CSS. The contact form runs on a single Cloudflare Worker; everything else is static and deploys to GitHub Pages for free.
Outcome
A fast, static, nearly free-to-host site whose own construction demonstrates the token pipeline and front-end approach I bring to client work. The footer note linking to ds2026 isn’t a flourish — it’s literally how this site is built.
